There's nothing better than curling up with a great garden book on a cold rainy day, but when the sun comes out and it's time to head outdoors, be sure to make your place--with a botanical bookmark, of course.
Creating botanical bookmarks is simple and they make great gifts. You'll need laminating sheets or, if you prefer, use a combination of contact paper and stiff plastic. You'll also need pressed flowers and embellishments like beads and colored threads.
- First, cut your laminating paper into a strip, about 6-1/2 inches in length.
- Separate the laminating paper and carefully position the flower, face up, on the sticky side. Press the laminate together, being sure to smooth out all the air bubbles.
- Use a ruler to find the center and punch a small hole in the top.
- Insert colored thread into the hole and tie it together with a single thread. And, for a final touch, add a decorative bead and snip off the excess thread. You can also use raffia or embroider the edges.
It's that easy!
