Saintpaulia (African violet)
If you're looking for colorful blooming houseplants, take a look at these five options.

1 Saintpaulia, or African violets, are known for their velvety leaves and dainty flower clusters that come in a rainbow of colors. They're fairly easy to grow and prefer an east-facing window. Water when the plants dry out. Be sure not to let the moisture touch any of the leaves, so water directly onto the soil and allow it to drain away from the pot.

Kalanchoe blossfeldiana
2 Kalanchoe blossfeldiana is bolder in color and bigger in size. Its vibrantly-colored clusters of flowers are long lasting, and the leaves are big and glossy. This plant likes indirect light and should be watered when the soil is dry.

Cyclamen
3 If you want something more delicate, Cyclamen might be just the thing. The delicate petals of this plant's flowers resemble tiny butterflies in flight, and the blooms last a long time with a range of colors from coral to pink to purple.

Begonia semperflorens
4 Many plants grown outdoors can also be purchased as potted houseplants. Begonia semperflorens make wonderful indoor plants and can provide a variety of both foliage and flower colors.

Rhododendron (azalea)
5 Another outdoor plant often seen potted as a housplant is Rhododendron, or azalea. It's known for its papery blooms in a range of bright colors. Once the blooms drop off, the azalea continues to provide shiny green foliage.
