Create a festive spring wreath using pussy willow:
Materials
small wreath (to use as a base)
wire
ribbon
twigs of pussy willow and dogwood
To prepare the twigs, start out by cutting the dogwood into lengths of six to eight inches. Cut enough twigs to make four to six small bundles of six to eight sticks each. Use the wire to securely fasten the twigs into bundles. Leave some extra wire on the end of each bundle and attach it to the wreath foundation. Continue adding the rest of the bundles to the foundation, overlapping them on top of each other, to cover up the wreath below.
Next you'll add the embellishments. For a simple embellishment, create miniature bouquets by tying small bunches of flowers together with wire and then winding the stems with complementary-colored ribbons.
The next step is to create a vertical line of pussy willow though the center of the wreath to give the wreath added shape, texture and color. As before, bundle six to eight pussy willow branches together and attach them with wire on one end. Then braid the branches together. Now secure the braided end of the branches with more wire.
Place the braided branches in the center of the wreath and secure it with wire. Decorate the wreath by filling in around the edges with bits and pieces of twigs (more pussy willow and dogwood). You can tuck, weave and nip the pieces to create a wild effect.
